About Christopher Hofman
I’m the SEO strategist at HofmanSEO, a solo consultancy focused on helping ambitious companies. I’m also an international speaker and the inventor of the Customer Journey Mapping method (described in MOZ blog post of the year 2022).
After starting my career traveling around Europe selling audio-video products, I founded a successful domain name company in 2003. We registered domain names for clients like Airbnb, LycaMobile, Campari, Kikkoman, and even Scientology. This experience introduced me to SEO, and when I managed to rank our small site in the top 3 on Google US -competing with Wikipedia and GoDaddy – I was bitten by the SEO bug.
After selling the company, I transitioned to the agency side, joining GroupM in 2016. A standout moment was moving Banco Santander from page 3 to the top spot on Google DK for “lån” (loan).
In 2018, I joined IMPACT Commerce as employee no. 122. Five years later, we were a team of over 400. As Head of SEO, one of my proudest achievements was helping KOMPAN build an internal SEO team and turning organic traffic into a valuable channel. I also worked closely with Mettler-Toledo, the global leader in weighing instruments, traveling to their branches in Shanghai and around Europe. Another proud moment was having a SEO case for the optician Nyt Syn awarded at the European Search Awards.
In 2023, I became Head of SEO at InboundCPH, where I had the privilege of working alongside Henning Madsen, one of Denmark’s SEO pioneers.
Now, I’m fully dedicated to HofmanSEO.
I live in the suburbs of Copenhagen with my wife, children, and our dog Amigo. I’m a Danish wine enthusiast (check out DanishWine.com), play chess at a decent level (ELO rating: 2226), and once completed a 100 km ultramarathon. These days, I prefer running through the woods with Amigo.
